Project: Home Gym

With a busy schedule, a house to run, a dog and a rabbit to look after, making time to get to the gym when it’s open is hard enough, not to mention finding the motivation.

I’ve heard this is a big problem for lots of other girls out there, as well as finding the gym intimidating, or too busy to get near the weights for grunting men in your way!

So began my new project: home gym. Weight training doesn’t require much equipment, or much time really, it’s the easiest way to get super toned and confident.

My home gym consists of:
A bench
Weights - several sizes and/or adjustable weights
Barbell
Abs Bench
Mini Stepper
Yoga Mat

Ive created a new program and will be posting my progress along the way :)

Stay tuned for more updates,

Once you can control your mind you can conquer your body.
Be your own motivation, don’t stop until you have achieved everything you imagined.

Gym Confidence!

Hey Guys,

So I think that gym confidence is a difficult situation for all girls, especially when you are in the weights section! My gym is always packed full of men training with their friends, then there’s me with with my high ponytail and my pink nails, I defiantly look out of place, but why shouldn’t I get a great workout in just because that’s the “men’s section”.

The confidence to walk into the weights section and have a great workout is all in your mind. Here are my top tips:

1. Focus I completely focus on my workout and don’t pay any attention to what’s going on around me. Who cares if someone is staring, or someone thinks my form is bad, don’t let what others may think stop you from reaching your goals!

2. Cute Gym Wear It took a while for me to figure out what clothing was best for me in the gym, I like to wear tight skinny sport leggings and a loose vest, with a bright sports bra underneath. Simple, comfy and looks good so I feel confident!

3. Fake Tan I fake tan about once a week, obviously I cant have a golden glow every time I’m in the gym, but it sure helps when I do. Tan makes your muscles pop, and for me it hides the redness I get when I workout!

2. Plan I never go into the gym without my programme, you run the risk of looking like a lost sheep when you can’t decide what to do! This all goes back to focus, get there, get the workout done, and get out - one step closer to your goal!…

Fitting the gym in around work arghh!

Choosing the Right Gym

I recently moved gyms due to my workout schedule changing. My old gym was too busy at night.. I was determined to find a nice quiet gym.. They must exist!?

First establish what time of day you will be working out, go and look round at that time. Things to consider:

1. Is the equipment right

2. Is the atmosphere right

3. Is it too busy

4. Prices & Joining fees

The first gym we went to look at was very fancy, expensive, new, pool, sauna, jacuzzi, spa. I was sold and wanted to sign up, it was a Thursday evening and it was quiet. However the gym is always busier at the start of the week, so we booked a free trial (YOU MUST HAVE A FREE TRIAL FIRST NO EXCUSES!) for a Monday night. When we went for the trial it was way to busy the equipment was new but rubbish and the gym was way smaller than we thought. This gym was £10 more per month than we currently pay. So we walked away!

Next gym No. 2 is a local family run one, we though it would be very busy but were pleasantly surprised when we looked round. It wasn’t fancy or expensive but it had the best weight training equipment and the atmosphere was great. Our free trial went perfectly and were all signed up.

Remember you must have a free trial, if I didn’t have a trial I would have signed up the the first gym spending £45 per month + a £20 joining fee. When the one I have joined now is only £23 per month NO joining fee!

I have been going to this gym for a few months now, one major problem I found during the heatwave is that they do not have air-conditioning, this really put me off working out because I was literally soaked just doing my warm up!

Second downside is that they don’t open till 7am. This means that I can’t go to the gym before work, when I signed up my plan was to go late evening, after trying this for a few weeks I found it just didn’t suite me.

I’m now stuck in a one year contract that I cant get out of and realistically this isn’t the best gym for me. So people be warned when you sign up to a 1 year contract, there’s no going back!

My favourite at home fake tanners!

Updated what’s in my fridge, refreshing my system after a week of bad eating!

Camping Trip Pembroke!

Camping it fast becoming one of our favourite past times, I though I would share a few photos from out last trip to Pembroke. It was Molly’s first time on the beach and she loved it!!

Can you get ripped without a gym!?

This was my transformation using a gym:

I hit the gym 5 times a week, lifting weights and clean eating, I couldn’t have been happier with these results!

After moving house and changing gyms, my routine wasn’t working, I get to the gym less and just cant seem to stick to a workout routine! This is what I look like these days, after too much over indulging and lack of workouts:

I can’t say that I am unhappy with the way I look now because I’m not at all, but I can’t help regretting losing a lot of progress and motivation that I worked so hard to achieve.

Evening workouts were not working for me and due to changing gyms it is no longer possible to get there before work - and its also not fair to leave my dog for longer each day. I would love to get back into my 5 days a week at the gym but man this seems so unrealistic right now!

So now I’m asking, is it possible to achieve the same results from home?! I purchased this DVD to find out:

I’m starting with ripped in 30 and I am doing this at home every morning before work. I have to say that these workouts kick my butt, but after being an avid believer in the gym and weight training, I’m not convinced yet that this will get me the same results!

Stay tuned for progress pictures.. xoxo L
